Car and Van Fuel Consumption / CO2 Databases
Climate Change is recognised as one of the greatest environmental threats facing the World today and it has long been appreciated by governments that reducing the impact of the motor vehicle has an important part to play in addressing this threat.
VCA has developed databases listing most of the cars and new vans** available for sale in the UK. The purpose of these databases is to:
The Car fuel data, CO2 and vehicle tax tools
This set of web-enabled tools provide details of the fuel consumption, exhaust pollution levels and noise levels of most new cars on sale in the UK, and there is also the option to download the content of the database for those wishing to evaluate the data further.
Important: A Disclaimer that sets out the data held is available here. Please read this before using these tools.
Explanatory notes regarding CO2, fuel consumption testing and more
You can view a copy of the latest guidance in the downloads section of the site (follow the above link). Or access excerpts by clicking on links in the left hanfd menu of this page.

The van database
The van database also provides details of the fuel consumption, and CO2 emissions of most **new light goods vehicles on sale in the UK. By light goods vehicle we mean vans, pickups and 4x4s with a gross vehicle weight below 3.5 tonnes. Visitors to the site can filter the data by the type of vehicle of interest - medium sized vans for example, vehicle weights and load length. Again, there is also the option to download the content of the database for further evaluation (page opens in a new browser window).
Important: A ‘Disclaimer’ that sets out the data held is available here. Please read this before using these tools.
The Vehicle Certification Agency is committed to providing the highest level of service and as such would welcome comments on the usefulness of our databases, together with any suggestions for improvement. Comments can be e-mailed to email@example.com or in writing to our Bristol address.
*By Used Cars, we mean those models that were previously available for sale, from 2001 onwards.
**By New Vans and Light Goods vehicles, we mean current year models available for purchase. Only those currently available for sale will be listed on the website. Please note that VCA are unable to provide older (historic) data for vans and light goods vehicles.
