Accessibility statement for the VCA New Car Fuel Consumption Website

This page was last updated on 2nd March 2023

The database and search tools that allow users to search for information on New Cars is managed by the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA). VCA is committed and is actively working to ensure that the tools on this site are usable and accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of disability, capability or technology. We want as many people as possible to be able to use the tools on this site. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • Resize text using the tools at the top the screen without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

Help with downloads

The database and web tools allow users to download information in two formats:

Adobe Acrobat files

PDF files – created using Adobe Acrobat – retain the formatting of the printed version of a document in an easy to download, single file. To view PDF files you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader, the latest version can be freely downloaded. We also encourage existing Adobe Acrobat Reader users to download the most current version available for enhanced accessibility features.

Click here to go to the Adobe site and download reader

Viewers with visual difficulties may also find it useful to investigate services provided to improve the accessibility of Acrobat documents.

CSV files

Comma Separated Values (CSV) files present data in a tabular format. CSV files can be used with most any spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Spreadsheets.

If you are a Windows user who does not have Microsoft Excel, the Excel 97/2000 Viewer will allow you to view Excel and CSV files.

Google also provide a free to use spreadsheet application.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) (page opens in a new browser window).
