SAE J1349 Certified Power

You have invested a significant amount of time and effort in research, development and testing. After all, it’s your reputation on the line. Any claims you make about engine power and torque are no doubt supported by your own data – but now there is a mechanism in place for independent verification.

What is SAE J1349 Certified Power?

Power and torque certification enables manufacturers to assure customers that engines deliver their claimed performance. Manufacturers have the choice of certifying engines to the recently revised SAE J1349 (for net power) or SAE J1995 (for gross power). The witnessed certification procedure (carried out in an approved ISO9000 / 9002 facility) is fully described in the new SAE J2723 standard.

Why do YOU need certification to this standard?

There are a number of clear benefits, including:

  • Independent, third party verification will improve customer confidence.
  • A number of YOUR competitors already certify their products, so acting quickly will insure that YOU don’t get left behind.
  • Certification will support any advertising and promotional work, giving YOU a competitive edge.
  • Certification could make a significant contribution to the bottom line.
